The increasing resistance to vancomycin and linezolid in staphylococci is becoming a significant global health challenges. These antibiotics are considered last-resort agents for infections caused by methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) and other multidrug-resistant Gram-positive bacteria. In the context of One Health approach, antibiotic resistance in livestock environments may contribute to the transmission of resistant bacteria between animal and human. This study aimed to evaluate the susceptibility of vancomycin and linezolid in staphylococci isolated from livestock and poultry environments. A total of 122 samples were collected from 47 enterprise-affiliated and private farms between October 2023 to October 2025 in several provinces in Southern Vietnam. A total of 285 staphylococci were isolated using Mannitol salt agar plates and were confimred by Gram-staining and catalase test. Minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) of vancomycin and linezolid of all the isolates were determined by microdilution method. Neither vancomycin-intermediate nor resistant staphylococci were detected, while one linezolid-resistant S. arlettae carrying the cfr gene was identified. Notably, the proportion of isolates with vancomycin MIC ≥ 1 µg/mL was 76,14%. Taken together, the results highlight the necessity of regular antimicrobial surveillance in livestock environment to prevent the emergence of new drug-resistant pathogens.
